Our drinking chocolate mix features artisanal Mayan cacao paste from indigenous collectives in Guatemala. Unlike cacao powder mixes, it still contains the rich, creamy cacao butter.
The mix is minimally processed and has no unnecessary additives. So this is a major level up on common hot chocolate mixes (which usually contain cocoa processed with alkali).
It's naturally sweetened with coconut sugar.
The Gateway 55% dark recipe has NO spice.
The Ritual 70% dark recipe is spiced with a dash of cayenne pepper. It comes in two spiciness levels, MILD or HOT.
The bags are custom-made in Guatemala by Gerardo Garcia using authentic Mayan fabrics. (NOTE: The bags come in a few different colors and patterns and may be different than what's pictured here.)
The cups are made from gourds by the Achi Mayan people in northern Guatemala. These are the very cups that the Achi, Q'eqchi and Poqomchi' peoples use to drink cacao. (NOTE: The cups are intended for decorative purposes. It's not recommended to put very hot liquids in the cups.)
The artisanal copal incense is made in San Cristobal de las Casas, Chiapas, Mexico. Copal is an important offering in many Mayan ceremonies. It has a deep, rich aroma, and one stick can be extinguished and used again in many sittings.
