This cacao is magical! Super creamy and great energy.
Grateful to have received this amazing plant medicine! I used this to offer my first cacao ceremony in Michigan and I felt as though I were surrounded by the volcanoes of Lake Atitlán. Thank you for making this plant medicine available in the United States and for supporting indigenous communities.
Hershey’s cocoa ain’t cocoa. Yes, several reputable brands exist who offer quality products - Navitas being a solid one I like. Still, acquiring cacao via the cordial and knowledgeable Nick at Soul Lift seems more direct, pure, undefiled by overwrought marketing, big corporations, or vague supply chains. Having previously enjoyed Tz’Utujil in compacted brick form, this purely ground format amply satisfies - practical for drinking - while brick version is delightfully rough and crumbly to chomp!
I concur that its flavor and aroma is indeed earthy forward inasmuch as its sensual attributes evoke tasting the volcanic soil itself which permeates wonderful Lake Atitlan’s environ. If you prefer coffee similarly “earthy” or “soil-y”, Tz-Utujil will satisfy. As for mentioned “smokyness”, perhaps a faint touch exists? Whenever receiving information, consider its source. In this case, my idea of smokyness is sticking your face directly into a towering campfire, bare feet enrobed in ash, slurping multiple drams of Ardbeg neat. So - to nitpick - I *could* endure more smokyness, but we are talking about cacao powder here, not Scotch, coffee, or incense. Complement your elixir with a fiery or smoky component as I do via chipotle chile powder or a touch of pure vanilla extract for a further notch of cocoa alchemy. Finishes pretty clean. Having another variety on hand - like the Ruk’u’x - to a/b side by side could be helpful to further highlight their personalities. Anyhow, listed serving suggestion of six to eight ounces water to quarter ounce powder is rather conservative for one who prefers heftier flavors; therefore increase cocoa content at will!
Not all powder may dissolve in water when stirring by hand, some satisfying sludge remaining at bottom of your mug to slurp. Fun stuff, recalls fruit at bottom of a Chobani yogurt. Consider it added dimension. Yeah, its cost ain’t cheap, although I feel the resulting experience is analogous when considering all points: practicing ethical values, proliferating humanitarianism, deft customer service, one pound of quality product, satisfying experience pragmatically as well as energetically. Shipped promptly with care in a robust sealed pouch, simply adorned, sans superfluity. Nutrition facts label is fairly basic yet welcome, helpful. I, earthy druid cocoa devotee, approve. Keen on experiencing Ruk’u’x next!
Delishious and powerfully blissful.

THIS PRODUCT MAY MELT IF YOU ORDER TO A VERY HOT CLIMATE. THIS WON'T HARM THE DRINKING CHOCOLATE. BUT IF YOU LIVE IN A VERY HOT PLACE, WE RECOMMEND BUYING A CACAO BLOCK INSTEAD, SINCE THEY'RE LESS AFFECTED BY HEAT.
Grown near the Pacific Coast and prepared by Nana Marina and the Cruz family at Lake Atitlán, this rare cacao (pronounced “Tsoo-too-heel”) has a flavor profile that is clear, smokey, and earthy, with notes of coffee. The Cruz family prepares it in the ancestral tradition before weaving it into their ceremonies today. *Our labels and branding are approved by the producers, and we have their consent to share the cacao for the betterment of humanity.*
Cacao has been celebrated as “Food of the Gods” in Central and South America since ancient times, long before the chocolate industry altered the original treasure.
Soul Lift Cacao is proud to help the re-emergence of pure ceremonial cacao by working directly with the people preserving traditions.
