Very helpful

Unfortunately the post office didn't actually deliver my first order but omce i contacted the seller, they immediately sent me another one free of charge. Thank goodness I got the second one in time too because I was moving away from the address permanently but it got there very quickly the second time around. It was melted because the post office just puts it in your mailbox, but I mean it's chocolate, I just refrigerated it for a little while and it was easy enough to pull out of the pouch.

This aromatic cacao is grown near Lake Lachua, close to the border of Guatemala and Mexico. Then seeds (aka cacao "beans") are prepared into ceremonial paste by a collective in Sololá, just north of the famed Lake Atitlán. The cacao is made fully by hand, including toasting the seeds over wood fire and hand-grinding on a traditional metate stone. Finally it is blessed and placed into a hand-sewn Mayan fabric bag. Profile: notes of tobacco and hazelnut, cool mouthfeel, and slightly coarse texture from the stone-grind. Each block comes in a hand-sewn Mayan fabric bag! (NOTE: Fabric bag colors/patterns differ from batch to batch and are not necessarily the one shown in the photo.) *Our labels and branding are approved by the producers, and we have their consent to share the cacao for the betterment of humanity.*

Cacao has been considered sacred in Mesoamerica for thousands of years, long before the chocolate industry altered the original treasure. It has numerous superfood benefits, and can also deepen introspective practices like yoga and meditation.

Every purchase of this cacao supports Mayan indigenous people through ethical direct trade, and helps them preserve their spiritual traditions and values. For more info about us and our partners, visit our Sources page.

DIRECTIONS
To make a drink of ceremonial cacao, finely chop the cacao. Measure 1/4 cup ground cacao and 6-8 oz of hot water (steaming but not boiling). Mix with a blender (with caution!), handheld frother, or other agitator to fully melt the cacao. Optional: Add a dash of cayenne pepper and natural sweetener to taste. Enjoy!

Cacao can also be added to smoothies, oatmeal, ice cream, and other foods. Experiment with making your own chocolates or bliss balls!

Ingredients: Pure ceremonial cacao paste (Theobroma cacao)

Storage info: Keep in a cool, dry, dark place. Refrigeration not required.

Heavy metal content: This cacao was tested for heavy metals by a third-party laboratory and found to be in a safe range for lead as advised by the FDA, and for cadmium as advised by the EU Commission, in parts per million (ppm). The amount of cadmium per serving is higher than the CA Proposition 65 daily limit, and as such we must include this disclaimer for California residents:

⚠ WARNING: This product can expose you to the chemical cadmium, which is known to the State of California to cause cancer. For more information, go to www.P65Warnings.ca.gov.

*Please also see our FAQ post on heavy metals in cacao and chocolate.

*NOTE: Packaging may differ slightly from the photos here.

*Some melting of cacao paste may occur during shipping. This isn’t a problem in terms of the quality of the cacao, but the shape may be different than pictured.

*Color and pattern variation is natural for pure cacao. Smooth white areas are most likely the natural cacao butter. Reach out if you have any questions.

*Please allow up to 7 business days from the time you place your order until you need your cacao to arrive. Thanks for understanding that we cannot process expedited orders at this time.
