Guided Ceremonial Cacao Tasting @ Eagle Aviary 10/2/26

Join Soul Lift Cacao founder Nick Meador for a guided tasting to learn about all the subtle differences in our single-origin cacao varieties from Latin America.

We'll taste five cacao varieties from Mexico and Central America. All the cacao is prepared in small batches by sovereign indigenous groups, and sourced through ethical direct trade (real human relationships). The seeds (a.k.a. "beans") are roasted over wood fire and peeled by hand the traditional way.

With a "tree to cup" slideshow presentation, you'll learn about the whole life cycle of cacao (the original form of chocolate) and how to use all your senses to really appreciate the subtle differences.

You'll leave with a whole new perspective on the chocolate industry and how to enjoy chocolate in a healthier, more sustainable way.

Advanced registration required.

When: 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm on Friday, October 2, 2026.

Location: We will meet at Citizen Potawatomi Nation Aviary, Shawnee, Oklahoma. Exact location will be sent to registrants.

The event includes a private tour of the aviary.

From the aviary:
The Potawatomi people consider eagles one of the most sacred animals on earth. Oral tradition teaches that eagles fly so high in the sky that they deliver messages and prayers to the Creator. As a sign of reverence, Potawatomi use eagle feathers in ceremony, while smudging, and as a part of regalia.

Eagles are an integral part of our culture and lifeways, revered as guardians and messengers. Honoring our connection, the Citizen Potawatomi.

Contribution: sliding scale $20 - $40. Registration closes at 12 pm on Oct. 2.

Transparency: 30% of funds will be donated to the aviary. If you feel called to attend but funds are an issue, please email us at hello@soulliftcacao.con
