Jicara (Gourd Cup)

Jícaras (pronounced "HEE-cah-rahs") have been used throughout history as cups, and are still used to this day for special drinks in Latin America.

"Jícara" is Spanish for gourd. These ones are about 4-6" across the opening and are uncarved. They come from Utz K'aslemal, the makers of La Noche cacao, from Sololá, in the Western Highlands of Guatemala.

*Jicaras are hand-wash only

*Each order quantity is for one jícara

Want a base to set a jicara on? We have "copal" wax rings that locals in the Guatemalan highlands use for that purpose. Another option is a rodete (pronounced ro-DEH-tay) base from Oaxaca. Scroll down to find a jicara and a base together at $1 off!
