We are currently taking resumes for a Retail Associate & E-Commerce Assistant to work in-person at our new cacao shop in north Portland, Oregon.

The ideal candidate for this position is a "people person" who would love to learn all about our ethically sourced cacao model and spend their time helping and teaching people who come into the shop.

This position would be more focused on "front of house" (FOH) tasks, but would still include some "back of house" (BOH) tasks as well.

FOH DUTIES:

  • Helping and educating customers
  • Point-of-sale checkout
  • Preparing pick-up and delivery orders
  • Restocking retail shelves

BOH DUTIES:

  • Tracking, labeling, and organizing food and non-food inventory on shelves
  • Shipping website orders
  • Online customer support (mostly email)
  • Light cleaning

COMPENSATION & HOURS: 

  • $18 per hr, 20-30 hrs per week (room for growth)

SCHEDULE: Because we are in the process of moving to a new location, the schedule will likely see some changes in the first month. Shift hours will likely be in the 11:00am-6:00pm range, and we'll be open 4-5 days per week to start, and 6-7 days per week once we get rolling. We are closed on all federal holidays. Time off is flexible with at least two weeks notice, but unpaid.

PREFERRED:

  • Interest in ethical and sustainable direct trade.
  • Food handler card (or willingness to get one) and familiarity with food safety code. (We might serve drinks later on.)
  • E-commerce and order fulfillment (shipping) experience.
  • Food prep and/or product packing experience.
  • Familiarity with the ceremonial cacao movement and/or Latin American culture.
  • Experience with raw foods, superfoods, chocolate and/or cacao.
  • Experience in a rapidly changing start-up business is also a plus but not required.
  • A desire to make the world a better place.
