Does not smell like Copal

Love Copal. This smells/burns clean- but smells like Nag Champa: will not purchase again

Hi Elizabeth, we're sorry to hear that you didn't like the copal incense sticks! We've tried many copal stick sources and love these. But we hear that it wasn't your experience. Please write to us on the Contact page if you're not happy with your order, so that we can help you find a solution. We're a very small, independent business, but always do what's possible to make customers happy when they come to us directly.

Copal Incense Sticks

I am VERY picky about the copal incense that I use, particularly during ceremonies, cleansings, and past life regression work. But this has quickly become one of my favorites. I will definitely be ordering more!

Excellent quality

I’ve been getting copal from Mexico for 20 years. This is excellent quality- long burning and rich scented. Worth the cost for sure !

CoPaL is AMAZING!!!

I love the power of Copal to cleanse, the Heart, Soul, and Home. It's so wonderful to have a local resource with access to having it made in a traditional manner that honors our brothers and sisters preparing it for us. The Love is as potent as the incense, in the Copal and at Soul Lift Cacao! Thank you so very much for an amazing visit.

Copal (Various Types)

Copal is a sacred tree in Mesoamerican spiritual practices that serves a similar "cleansing" purpose to sage or palo santo.

It's also known as "rax pom" (pronounced rash pohm) or "copal pom."

We have it in four forms, which provide a different aroma and overall experience, and are useful for different purposes:

  1. Artisanal incense sticks: Made by hand in San Cristobal de las Casas, in the modern Mayan state of Chiapas, Mexico. The incense sticks can be burned like any incense.
  2. "Rax pom" essential oil: Made from copal trees in Alta Verapaz, Guatemala. It comes in a convenient roll-on bottle and doesn't require burning. (This type is from the family who makes El Cielo and La Noche ceremonial cacao varieties.)
  3. Pure "rax pom" resin: The sticky, unprocessed sap of the copal tree, harvested in Guatemala. The resin can be burned over hookah coals on a "copalero" or vaporized another way. The smoke and aroma are much thicker with the resin. This more traditional copal is what's used in ceremonies.
  4. Wax rings: These don't have an aroma like copal incense or resin, but locals in the Guatemalan highlands still call them "copal." They're a mix of wax and wood pulp that can be used as a firestarter. But these are also used for decorative purposes, or even as a base for a jicara (scroll down for a discount bundle of a jicara and a wax ring together). Each wax ring is about 2.5" wide. NOTE: These are by their very nature fragile and imperfect. There will inevitably be small bits that come loose during shipping.

Make your choice of type and quantity in the drop menu above!
