Book a private cacao tasting with Soul Lift Cacao founder Nick Meador, where you can try ceremonial cacao varieties grown on family farms in different parts of Guatemala.
We'll taste five pure ceremonial cacao varieties, all prepared as your choice of totally unsweetened or 70% dark drinking chocolate with coconut sugar.
All the cacao is prepared in small batches by Mayan people in Guatemala, and sourced through ethical direct trade. The seeds (aka "beans") are roasted over wood fire and peeled by hand the traditional way.
With a "tree to cup" slideshow presentation, you'll learn about the whole life cycle of cacao (the original form of chocolate) and how to use all your senses to really appreciate the subtle differences.
You'll also get a chance to chop ceremonial cacao from a block, so you know how to make a cup of cacao at home. (NOTE: Chopping experience requires liability release.)
You'll leave with a whole new perspective on the chocolate industry and ways to enjoy drinking chocolate in a healthier, more sustainable way.
