Eh

I really see no difference in this product from the 100% organic cocoa ( not processed with alkalai) that I can buy at the supermarket for a fraction of the price. I feel scammed.

Hi Suzanne, sorry to hear you weren't happy with your purchase. This article on our blog explains all that goes into the ceremonial cacao products we carry in terms of artisanal craft, supporting indigenous traditions, and promoting financial equity: https://soulliftcacao.com/blogs/news/why-fair-trade-cacao-chocolate-isnt-as-fair-as-ceremonial-cacao

Since cacao paste has all the original cacao butter, the closest comparison isn't cocoa powder but baker's chocolate. Either one is typically a lot more processed and has less transparency in the sourcing. But obviously we want people to enjoy our products aside from just the backstory!

We'll reach out to you directly to see if there's any way we can help you have a better experience with our products. Feel free to write to us on the Contact page anytime there's an issue in the future.

Amazing

I love this cacao very easy to shred with a cheese grater and easy to make beverages, I even put some in my coffee. Great quality.

Love LavaLove

I switched to this cacao from another, very popular brand a few months ago. Hard to say why but the other cacao never sat right with me. LavaLove is delicious and sits just right. It's perfectly roasted and tastes great made with water or homemade almond milk. I do add cinnamon, cardamom and cayenne (from Burlap & Barrel so well sourced) to my daily cacao. Haven't tried it with other ingredients like rose or lotus but I'm sure they'd pair well. I also really appreciate the transparency regarding nutrient and heavy metal content.

Lava

This is the best cacao I’ve had - it has a smooth finish and makes me feel light and happy. It’s surprisingly sweeter than most and I highly recommended it!!

Lavalove 100% Pure Ceremonial Cacao Paste

CHOOSE YOUR TYPE AND AMOUNT ABOVE!

From the land of volcanoes, Lavalove cacao is a blend sourced from small, neighboring farms on the Pacific Coast of Guatemala, and selected, roasted, and peeled by hand. This cacao is malty, with a floral aroma, a light mouthfeel, and a subtle nutty aftertaste. *Our labels and branding are approved by the producers, and we have their consent to share the cacao for the betterment of humanity.*

*amounts are per 1oz of cacao paste

Cacao has been considered sacred in Mesoamerica for thousands of years, long before the chocolate industry altered the original treasure. It has numerous superfood benefits, and can also deepen introspective practices like yoga and meditation.

Every purchase of this cacao supports Mayan indigenous people through ethical direct trade, and helps them preserve their spiritual traditions and values. For more info about us and our partners, visit our Sources page.

DIRECTIONS
To make a drink of ceremonial cacao, finely chop the cacao. Measure 1/4 cup ground cacao and 6-8 oz of hot water (steaming but not boiling). Mix with a blender (with caution!), handheld frother, or other agitator to fully melt the cacao. Optional: Add a dash of cayenne pepper and natural sweetener to taste. Enjoy!

Cacao can also be added to smoothies, oatmeal, ice cream, and other foods. Experiment with making your own chocolates or bliss balls!

Product of Guatemala

Ingredients: Pure ceremonial cacao paste (Theobroma cacao)

Storage info: Keep in a cool, dry, dark place. Refrigeration not required.

Heavy metal content: This cacao was tested for heavy metals by a third-party laboratory and found to be in a safe range for lead as advised by the FDA, and for cadmium as advised by the EU Commission, in parts per million (ppm). The amounts per serving are also lower than CA Proposition 65 advised daily limits. Please also see our FAQ post on heavy metals in cacao and chocolate.

*NOTE: Packaging may differ slightly from the photos here.

*Some melting of cacao paste may occur during shipping. This isn’t a problem in terms of the quality of the cacao, but the shape may be different than pictured.

*Color and pattern variation is natural for pure cacao. Smooth white areas are most likely the natural cacao butter. Reach out if you have any questions.

*Please allow up to 7 business days from the time you place your order until you need your cacao to arrive. Thanks for understanding that we cannot process expedited orders at this time.
